What Is A Control Panel ?
In simple terms a control panel is a box that contains an assembly of components, normally electrical devices that monitor and control automated mechanical processes. These can range in size from the familiar small domestic central heating controller, looking after boiler and radiators, through to large panels controlling all the processes of a complete assembly line.
Commonly referred to by the number of doors it has, the control panel box or enclosure that contains the assembly of components, is normally painted mild steel but can be stainless steel / GRP for specialist applications and varies in size based on the scale of the process.
Through the use of DIN rails (metal rails of standard width for mounting electrical devices inside) and wiring ducts, the control panel contains the components of both power and control circuits. These components may include: circuit breakers, surge arrestor, isolators, transformer, overload relays, terminal blocks, pushbuttons, selector switches, timers, contactors, programmable logic controller, network switches, and HMI (Human machine interface).
Each control panel, be it PLC, motor, pneumatic or a combination, is designed to allow its operator to monitor and control the automation processes through the use of connected input / output devices.

Whilst the majority of our control panel building is undertaken as part of a bespoke total automations solutions package, we also offer control panel building as either part of a system upgrade, or as a totally independent service. Our flexible approach allows us to undertake builds based on client design, or based on a solution provided by one of our in-house experienced designers.
